After a long crazy week of parking cars in 40 degree raining weather, promoting my first freeroll, and last minute holiday shopping I have to admit I was a little exhausted and burnt out. That was until I checked the PAW forums and saw this post…
Hi Guys,
Well I am not submitting an application for myself. Instead this is about someone else that I think deserves this trip to not only to keep himself motivated but reach the new goals he has set for himself. If I am not allowed to do this my apologies and obviously it will be disqualified but I thought it was worth a shot to have an unbiased view.
First off, he started this business around the same times as I did although I didn’t really know him than. It wasn’t until probably May/June that we began talking and he asked for a link exchange. Both of us are fascinated with SEO and believe that it is the most important contributing factor to a well built site along with good content. Anyway, funny enough he emailed me with a challenge. Both of us were aiming for some fairly targeted and competitive keyphrase and he challenged me to see who could make top 10 first, and since then we have been bouncing ideas off each other and I really feel that he will make it.
So why do I think he deserves to win the PAP VIP Challenge?
He is unbelievably motivated. I don’t think he has ever since we’ve been chatting found himself in the rut stage where things aren’t progressing as they should. If he gets in that comfortable stage he starts another project so he’s always one step ahead. He keeps me motivated. He is a believer. I know how spiritual eh? He has this persona about him where he believes he is going to make it and the drive to get him there. He never questions what am I doing wrong, but instead has the mind frame to say how can I go above this?
He has goals. I have found a good portion of affiliates do have goals but no direction on how they are going to obtain them. He does. He knows where he is at, where he wants to be and figures out the steps to take it to that next level….which brings me to my final point
He’s not afraid to take risks. He is about to quit his job to take this on full time which in itself is a huge risk both financially and I would say emotionally (stress factors). I personally feel it takes a lot of motivation, self-confidence, and guts to take that next step.I think anyone who has the chance at going to any convention will be inspired, receive an extra push in the direction they want to go, but more so I think it will give them a new perspective on things that they may not have thought about…and I think John Holloway deserves this.
Oh and do I think he could “hang with the guys”…I would be more than willing on placing a “prop bet” that he could easily outlast Jeremy.
There was nothing better than seeing something positive like that after such a stressful week. Thank you very much for all of the kind words.
Soo…
Why I am a V.I.P. Affiliate
I simply refuse to stop pushing forward until I have reached a level of success that I would have once thought unattainable. It’s true that, in this business, affiliates come and go every day. Many enter into this business with “rose colored glasses” and dollar signs in their eyes. I was no different. You should have seen www.officialpartybonuscodes.com when I first designed it. It was a one page site, with a blue background… and it had a bright pink font that showed a few bonus codes. I really wish I had a screenshot of it to show new affiliates how far you can come with some determination.
Reality set in quickly that I would never make a dime off of that site, and I lost interest for a few months. Then one random day, for some reason, I decided to give it another go. I found some great help at Poker Affiliate World and was able to grasp the basic concept for success. I still don’t recall to this day what exactly made me decide to jump head first back into this business after a complete failed attempt. I am glad that I did though.
Since then I have built up several successful sites and loved every minute of it. There is so much to learn about all the different aspects of promoting online poker. I could go on for days about how much there is to learn.
So why should I be selected?
Aside from being nominated by an anonymous affiliate and creating several successful affiliate sites, I believe my passion for this business rises above all else. I could chat about poker affiliate programs all day, and those of you who talk to me 0n MSN or AIM will vouch for that one. There is no way I am leaving this business anytime soon. I wake up every day eager to check stats, publish content, and exchange links. It is literally what gets me out of bed in the morning. It has even affected those around me.
My household has turned into a poker affiliate sanctuary. My wonderful sister/landlord has recently taken my advice and started free lance writing for poker affiliates, and has more work than she could have ever imagined. My brother-in-law is a poker fanatic who is always either playing in a cash game at the house or playing online. He knows very little about affiliate programs so he is my eyes and ears when it comes to knowing what actual players want. It’s such a great situation… I have one person coming up with brilliant topics and another person writing fantastic articles about the topics. I couldn’t ask for a better situation. I feel my future is very bright in this industry.
If I am selected you can bet Jeremy’s and Greg’s money will be well spent. I have been absolutely dying to attend one of these conferences and meet a few people face to face(PAW members and affiliate managers especially).
So who am I?
I am a 21 year old guy who is still making his way through college. I am not one of those kids whose parents send them away to college, pay their rent, pay for their car, pay for their tuition, give them spending money etc. As a kid when I used to ask my Dad for something he would always respond, “Well you better start saving your money.”
I thank him for this because it turned me into the entrepreneur I am today. By not having things handed to me, I worked hard to achieve goals myself. I spent a lot of my down time at school reading blogs, articles, e-books, and forums trying to come up with that master plan to beat the system…because at the time the system was beating me. People always say you should go to college just for the social aspect, and that is about all I think it’s good for unless you want to become a drone of society. There is no telling how many UGA, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Kennesaw State graduates I work with as a valet. They all say that they either can’t find a job, or couldn’t find one that payed as good as valet parking(valets are undercover ballers, btw). I have a back up plan which is quickly becoming the “actual plan”, and it involves CPA and MGR.
I am not knocking college. I have had many good times partying with friends, and I am sure I’ll have many more good times as I finish up. But why put all your eggs in one basket? Why wait until after college to start your career? Life is too short for that nonsense.
Can I out Party Greg and Jeremy?
HAHA, hands down they don’t stand a chance. I’ve been known to funnel beers in the blink of an eye…all night long…all week long. One thing is for sure, I’ve got the age advantage. They are older than I am, and you know how old fogies can’t handle a hangover like us young bucks can. I say bring on the prop bets! I bet I could even drink more milkshakes than Nick.
Conclusion
Thanks to everyone at PAW, PAP, and CAP for helping me get to where I currently am today. Thanks for PAP and ChipLeader.com for holding this contest. I can’t wait to see the results… I know one lucky affiliate will win a trip that could truly change their life. Good luck to all the other who have entered!
PS Jeremy – If chosen as the winner, all of the money I’ll save on this trip will be donated to a great cause while in London… The single mom foundation!
